My Top 5 Celtics Plays From The Last Week

Alright it’s Monday so you know what that means. Time to check in and lift some spirits with my personal Top 5 plays from the last week. As we know, it was another up and down week for the Celts, but a 2-1 week is a 2-1 week and right now this team can’t turn their nose up at any positive on the basketball court. As a reminder this covers 11/12-11/18 which brought us CHI/TOR/UTA on the schedule. It seems silly that many are down on the Celts after a decent week, but that’s what a lack of offense will get ya. Anyway, here’s how I would rank the best 5 plays

5.

What a shot from Kyrie. Factoring in the moment, the time left on the clock, the opponent, just an absolutely ridiculous shot. Think about it, Kyrie goes full speed, uses his body to create just a sliver of space from a legit shot blocker in Ibaka, then maintains the body control to lightly kiss it off the glass using his left hand. Such a tough shot at an extremely clutch time.

I know what you’re thinking and yes, I agree. This was the most beautiful outlet pass in NBA history. Love Yabu’s presence of mind to get the rebound and immediately pick his head up and find the streaking teammate. That’s exactly how they draw it up when you’re first learning to play the game. Some players just get it, what can I say.

One of my favorite parts about Horford’s season is how he is all of the sudden blocking everything in sight, and they are loud blocks like this. I mean where did this even come from? Al has a career high in BLK% and it’s because he’s making plays like this. Very impressed with the timing and the jumping ability here. I have no idea if Horford is going to be able to keep up this sort of rim protection, but he is blocking his dick off so far this year.

2.

I cannot express how much I loved this play from Tatum. Game getting close, it was no time to fuck around and try some Kobe bullshit. No, instead, he saw the opening, put his head down and FINALLY not only drove to the rim, but finished strong. I mean Ibaka and Kawhi were in the viscidity and that didn’t give Tatum any pause whatsoever. I need more of this like I need air to breathe.

This is up there for me in terms of my favorite plays from Kyrie this week. He had a bunch so it’s hard to be wrong, but this one just does it for me. I think it’s because it was the full package. We got the great defensive play with the steal, and then Kyrie in transition is always an adventure. That finish at the rim, with the amount of spin he had to use to get it over the defender is why Kyrie is Kyrie. I think this play helped set the tone for his entire night, and honestly Kyrie has really been one of the only guys to consistently show up on both ends. Great play all around, but an especially unreal finish.

Honorable Mention: Every Hayward fast break, Yabu’s made three vs UTA, Kyrie’s reverse vs CHI

So now I turn to you. Did you have a favorite play I didn’t mention? Wanna be a negative nancy and say the whole week sucked because they lost to a Western Conference team? The floor is yours.
